Best First year student prize
Mr. Qi Lu (China) has been awarded the best first year student prize at the summer school.
Qi Lu spent his first year of the EMMP programme at KTH.
Best Overall student prize
Mr. Eric Rodrigue Numkam Fokoua (Cameroon) has achieved the best overal result of the graduating class of 2010.
Eric spent his first year of the EMMP programme in Scotland (USTAN & HWU) and his second year at Ghent University.
Best Thesis prize
The best thesis prize at the summer school 2010, has been awarded to two students. The Board could not make a decision in favour of one of these two excellent performances and therefore the prize will be shared between Mr. Oleg Zero (Poland) and Mr. Said Rahimzadeh-Kalaleh Rodriguez (Mexico).
Oleg Zero spent his first year in Belgium (UGent & VUB) and his second year at KTH.
Said Rodriguez spent his first year at KTH and his second year at Ghent University.
EMMP lectures by prof. Noda, prof. Koike, prof. Koch, prof. Kirk and prof, Hadfield
The EMMP summer school was able to atract once more international renowned speakers in the field of photonics.
Business Plan Competition
The second year students were engaged in a business plan competition whereby they had to team up and present a novel photonics related business plan. A jury, lead by Dr. Richard Mosses from SUPA, awarded the team with the best business plan and with the most novel idea with a book on entrepreneurship.
The best business plan was presented by Said Rodriguez, Gebirie Belay, Yajun Wei and Annett Klemm.
The most novel idea was presented by Tom Ako, Muhammad Amin, Jennefir Digaum and Fritz Diorico.
EMMP Alumni Night
Abdool Shakoor (graduating class 2008) and Charles Dada (graduating class 2009) were present at the Alumni Night whereby they talking about their EMMP experiences and the life after the programme...
EMMP EU lecture
Mr. Ruben Lombaert (associated with VUB and with the European Commission) introduced Europe to the students in an evening lecture on EU, followed by a Q&A session.
